A study compared the gastric-emptying behaviour of HBCD and other carbohydrate solutions under specific concentrations and osmotic conditions. Champion itself was not tested.

Calcium HMB dissolved in water
A crossover study in 16 healthy young adults compared calcium HMB in water and capsules with HMB free acid. Calcium HMB showed higher plasma exposure, while the water-dispersed form reached peak concentration sooner. The study used approximately 1 g HMB and measured pharmacokinetics—not exercise performance; Champion provides 250 mg HMB calcium per stick and was not tested.
